Greetings,

I have what I believe is the stock heat muffler and it doesn't supply heat - only cold air. The heat shroud on the muffler doesn't look like it would transfer much heat and I was wondering if there is any modification or retrofit that would make this actually supply heat - especially now that it's cold up here in the northern hemisphere!

After looking at what  Jabiru offers in their website, the heat muffler installed by Aerostar SA is not the same. My guess is that plenum does not have sufficient muffler surface area to radiate enough heat (see attached photo). And especially since the plenum uses ram air from a cowling opening which makes heat transfer that much more difficult. I'll have to fabricate one or just purchase one from Arion aircraft.

Hello Alex,

That is definitely not a Jabiru part.  We have a carburettor heat exchanger that goes on the main muffler body and our cabin heat exchanger goes on the muffler outlet pipe and uses 11/4" scat hose as air duct.  Looking at the bends in your outlet pipes it would be difficult to slide ours over it.
