Hi Doug,
I'm getting some strange Oil Pressure indications. The engine is a 22A no 415. With the engine warmed up I get about 1.5 bar at 1200rpm, at 2000 rpm it is about 2.5 bar and at 2800 rpm (full power on ground runnig) it goes to about 3.5 bar. The strange thing is that when I throttle back and always as I come down through 2000 -1800 rpm the the pressure indication goes full scale high. Below 1800 rpm it returns to normal.
The only things I can think of are either a sticking relief valve or a faulty sender. Any ideas?
Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin,

Just based on your description (jumping to full gauge deflection) that sounds to me more like a sender issue... the oil pressure senders are a electromechanical gizmo and so can, in theory, be prone to vibrations etc, especially if they get a bit old and cranky.

It'd be worth checking for loose wires etc, then I'd consider fitting a new sender.

Failing all that it might be in the relief valve... but I'd look at the gauge/sender first.

Regards,
Doug.
