For changing to a Gen4 from a Gen3 2200 OR 3300

is the gen3 engine mount compatible with the new Gen 4 ?

What did anything change/ must change /how compatible etc etc

with thanks,  Glen.

Hello Glen,

Engine mounts for 3300 engines require no changes, everything is the same.

For 2200 engines the Gen 4 2200 has the same mount pin spacing as the 3300, which is 15mm further apart relative to the Gen 3 2200.

Some engine mounts (especially ones with long members) can easily accomodate this, others need changes/ new mount.

Everything else about the engines is the same.

I should add that compared to the earlier 2200 engines, especially Gen 1, the Gen 3 and Gen 4 sump is deeper.

thanks very much. good to see harmonized mounts now with Gen4s.

On the long mounts, Does that imply an early  J170D (Gen3) has longer members (as the engine moved forward) , and the J170C say 2010, has short members (perhaps incompatible )?

Regards, Glen.

Hello!

I have an LSA Qualt airplane with the engine sn A222737 and I would like to replace it with gen4. As I understand the engine mount is different and I need to remodel it?

Thanks! Matej Slovenia

Hello Matej

The standard 2200 Gen 4 would need the mount modified if the mount doesn't have sufficient flex to accomodate the 15mm higher top position.

However, we do now have an alternative mount plate for the 2200 Gen 4 that is the same as all earlier 2200's, including your engine.  This is available for a small extra cost and should be specified when you order your engine.
