Hello Jab Support,
Before I go investigate further, I’ve been experiencing when ambient temperatures are high (around 85F +) and the engine is running warmer (naturally), when I attempt to shut off the right magneto, the engine continues to run. I’ve read that mags fail when overheated but not where they won’t shut down (so to speak). Before I investigate the P lead and gap, I was wondering if this was something that was brought up before due to an overheating mag. Of course recommendations, suggestions and personal experiences are welcomed!
Thanks!
Cheers,
Alex R.
Update 02/27/24. With cooler temperatures, this has not occurred. During the summer months, (this was originally posted last April) I changed the mag and it did the very same thing. This is puzzling. All I can think is to check the wiring. Any thoughts?
Sorry I missed this post last april. In our experience of coils failing is failing to off when hot and then start working again when cooled down. The usual culprit when the coil won't turn off is the wiring. A broken wire or bad connection.
