hello,

re the JSL021-1_Charging_system_operation_procedures , {which shows as error (404) lost link,}

I was curious about the system voltage limits,

if the battery is "reasonably" charged, what sort of voltages would I be seeing under say 60% power on ground, ?

I have a digital Volt meter and that's giving some relatively high readings, 15 V, or more, i can additionally put my DVM on it and get very accurate reading, or my large analogue full scale Meter to confirm,

thanks,

during some checking i found the system voltage @ say 2000 RPM to be around 16 V, ,

the battery was / is charged.
battery as new,
start cycle is very normal , (there is almost no cranking, the start is instant)
current is normal and post start current returns to normal ( couple A + side if that)

has the Kubota controller, not any real history of issues,

concern is

this is a relatively high voltage, and can / could heat the battery,

i recalled the SB, but its not available now?

broken link?

I have a Digital Volt meter, no other issues,

thanks,

Hi Terence,
The file should be attached here, let me know if it isn'. I'll pass on the word about the broken link.

I've had a skim through and I'm not really seeing anything directly applicable to your situation... which leaves us back with normal troubleshooting.

The first thing I'd have a look at are the connections. In particular, the plastic plug where the wires hardwired to the regulator connect to the rest of the aircraft - it's not uncommon for these to become corroded or loose and when that happens you can get several different issues. If they're all tight and clean, it would be worth tracing the regulator "sense" wire and see that a) it's in good condition and b) where it connects to the electrical system. That's the wire that tells the regulator what the system voltage is, so if it's degraded or connected to the wrong spot it can drive the system voltages up. The earth connections for the reg/engine/airframe are also worth a look - it's not unheard-of for there to be a bit of corrosion between the earth lug and the firewall which can cause a bit of angst.

Best Regards,
Doug.
