Jabiru 3300 AMP Gauge Ranges

My 2010 J230-SP is equipped with the Garmin G3X EFIS and EIS. I recently had the G3X Ammeter Shunt added so the EIS can display both VOLTS and AMPS.

The shop that did the work neglected to configure the amperage ranges and limits. I know that the alternators on all 3300 engines have a maximum DC output of 17 AMPS.  Can you tell me the values for:

Red Line -- Minimum Limit
Yellow Arc -- Precautionary Range
Green Arc -- Normal Operating Range
Red Arc/Line -- Maximum Limit

Hi John,

If those values aren't in your Flight Manual then they don't exist, formally... you can set some yourself but they'd be "for info only".

 17A would be a continuous limit; it should do a little more than that, for short periods.  That would make it the upper/yellow mark.

Thanks Doug,

Putting the G3X in configuration mode and trying the available settings, I found that the shunt is wired to display "Battery Amps" so I configured the display as follows:

-.1 to -15 amps red
+.1 to +15 amps green
0 amps white line

That gives me a useful "for info only" vertical bar gauge with (green on top, red on the bottom, a white line at "0") with a pointer to the left and a numerical readout to the right telling me to what degree the battery is discharging or being charged. Once I learn what constitutes "normal," it should be helpful in detecting when something isn't normal. And, when trying to minimize the electrical load on the ground,  the effects of turning various lights, electric carb heat, etc. ON/OFF is immediately apparent.
