My 2200 hyd engine runs on shell aero100+.......has for yrs, all good. I'm hearing of late that shell aero sport is a better choice......any comments.

Hi Russ,
If you're on a good thing, stick with it: 100+ is my oil of choice. 🙂
We've had a small number of bad experiences with engines using aero sport... i suspect that in our engines - with no valve stem seals and a horizontal layout (tends to increase oil burn as the oil doesn't drain away from the underside of the pistons by gravity) the thinner oil is getting into the chamber more than it should - and oil in the combustion chamber is a key cause of detonation.
Plus i was always taught to avoid switching oils if you could help it!
