Hi Jabiru
Is it common that the Bing carburetor is leaking drops of fuel from the overflow tube if the fuel valve is open and the engine is not on? I guess it is one or two drops per minute? The plane is a high wing Storch HS with wing tanks. The engine is an 2200A serial no. 2637.
I know many motorcycles have got the same habit of flooding the carburetors if the fuel is not shut off manually or automatic. So can I expect the leak to disappear if I replace the needle/seat in the carburetor?

Hi Olav,
Yes, it's not uncommon for the carby to overflow if there's pressure on it. Replacing the needle valve will cure it for a while but it will probably come back. If it keeps happening it might be worth getting in the habit of turning off the fuel supply to the engine when the aircraft is parked. Checking your float height is also worthwhile.
Regards,
Doug.
