Hi Doug, could you advise:- is there a way of setting the hours on the Lcdr within the VDO ta go? I've replaced a faulty unit and need to bring the hours up to match what they really are.

Hiya,
Unfortunately the only shortcut I'm aware of is to fit the tacho to something like a bench grinder and let it sit there racking up the hours. Or you could do something similar with your car, boat or lawnmower... as they only count hours when the instrument is showing non-zero RPM just leaving it turned on won't work.

It's pretty customary to make an entry in the logbook stating that hour meter with time XX was replaced and to adjust hours accordingly.

Regards,
Doug.

Yeah there is an entry in the log stating hours when changed, it must be my OCD acting up but I just don't like it!

Haha... I totally understand!

Most EMS type instruments do offer the option of editing your time in service etc so in theory you could fit something like that.

There would be boffins out there that know how to re-code the little displays on the analogue tachos but unfortunately I'm not one of them!

Good luck with the OCD, I keep trying to use mine for useful things but I'm not sure how successful I am!
