Hello Doug
Do you know of any specific washing products for the underside of Jabs, to remove buildup of exhaust stains, oil slick etc?
The Auto shops seem to stock DEGREASER type stuff which is more suitable to engines rather than painted surfaces.
In my case, the stains are quite minor, but I am just wondering if you recommend any specific product.

Thanks a lot
Ross

Hi Ross,
The day to day wash we use is an aircraft colloidal cleaner: there are a few of them out there that work ok. For heavy oiling we use a degreaser - not the aerosol type, the water based type that you spray on with a garden sprayer then rinse off: this stuff is easier on the paint than the aerosol types. If you're feeling limber a coat of wax (without Silicon: see below) on the paint under there should make it a little easier to clean next time.
For most modern Jabirus the paint is 2-pack automotive polyurethane which is pretty hard wearing and will be fine with most cleaning products. The only things you really need to watch out for are any cleaning or polishing product that contain silicon: silicon contamination of composites can make them very hard to repair. And when cleaning the windows you'll need to make sure you're using a suitable product and do some spot-checking in accordance with the products directions to make sure you don't damage the Acrylic.
Regards,
Doug.
