I am tempted to change my oil cooler setup on my 3300. The current one is a bit large and I suspect it lets too much air into the lower cowl.

To select a proper cooler that fits my cowl I would like to know the BTU rating of the Jabiru oil cooler please?

Hi Rob,
The oil cooler we use on the 3300 is an Aero-Classics P/No. 8000075. As it happens, Aero-Classics have the performance chart for that cooler available on their website:

www.aero-classics.com/charts.asp

Hopefully that will give you the info you need. Provided the airflow is ok that cooler does the job nicely.

Regards,
Doug.

Hello everybody!! Thanks for the previous answer.
I'm about to install my Jabiru 2200 engine on my Sonerai II Mid Wing. And I also want to install the Aero-Classics P / No oil cooler. 8000075.
I found where to buy it, aeroinstock.com , but I can not find the P / No. of the Nipple for the jabiru 2200 like this in the picture:

It can indicate where to buy it and which P / No. has?

Regards!!

Nik

Hi Nik,
The thread on the Aluminium oil cooler adaptor is 1/8" NPS. We don't normally use flange fitting hoses - which is what those blue nipples are for. Assuming you're using an aircraft flanged fitting hose (a Stratoflex 124 series for example) then you'll want an AN816 with 1/8" NPT thread - so an AN816-2, AN816-3 or AN816-4 (the dash number will be set by the size of hose you opt to use... I'd suggest a -4, and even that might be a little on the small side). You can get these from any aircraft supply place - aircraft spruce etc. The barbed fittings we normally use have a bigger internal bore than that and flow more oil, so just be careful you aren't restricting the flow too much.

Just note that aircraft use 37" flares while you can get automotive fittings that look pretty much identical but have a 45 deg flange: you'll need to make sure your hose matches your fittings.

Regards,
Doug.
