Hi,

I have sn 304 with only factory run time. Since 2002 I'm sure there have been changes/upgrades. I'd like to get your opinion on what
I should consider doing prior to firing this beauty up inn the next six months.

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,
Apologies for the delayed reply - I'm in the perfect storm of work at the moment and finding it impossible to keep up!

304 is an old girl for sure... As for upgrading, I'm reminded of the old saying from racing: "how fast do you want to spend?"

Offhand I'd suggest that the heads would be a sensible starting point; it's possible to put the narrow-finned heads on most older engines... but your original exhaust won't fit the new heads, nor would the intakes, so there's quite a knock-on effect. It does depend on what you're wanting to achieve by the upgrade and how much you're considering spending. Also depends on what aircraft you're putting it in and, in turn, what category it's in: there's more room for tinkering in the experimental categories. Also, in the experimental categories second-hand parts might be an option to get to a more modern configuration without going overboard.

Regards,
Doug.
