I'm about to do a 100hr check on my 3300 S/N 551. The I&M manual JEM0002-6 section 9.19 specifies how to perform a fuel flow check.

First instruction is "Disconnect the fuel line from the mechanical fuel pump in the engine compartment".
Is that the line feeding the mechanical fuel pump or the one exiting the fuel pump? Does the mechanical fuel pump obstruct fuel flow when stationary?

Hi Rob,
If you disconnect the line from the firewall to the pump then you have a relatively long, handy length of hose to direct into a bucket or beaker. Plus, technically that's where the "engine" starts (i.e. the dividing point between the airframe and the engine as defined by the regulations) so it's the most appropriate place to measure flow rate.

There is a bit of restriction in the mechanical fuel pump when it's not running but not a great deal.

Regards,
Doug.
