Re.: 22A#3648
We're required to check the flywheel bolt torque every now and then.

Previously this was quite an ordeal with heating of the bolts, as they were set in Locktite 620 during engine assembly in Bundy. However, some time ago this 620-practice seems to have been discontinued after the new starfish flywheel hub was intruduced.

Question is: what about the flywheel bolts in this engine- is heating required?

Thanks
Kai

G'day Kai,
Answer direct from the source:

The practice of installing flywheel bolts in production without Loctite 620 started with the 3300’s in August 2016 (33A2758).
The practice didn’t start with 2200’s until October 2016 (no 2200’s produced from July to September). This was also the start of the Gen 4, 4 cylinder engines.

Incidentally, heat is not applied to flywheel bolts when checking – only when removing.
