I hate to open a can of worms but I would like Jabiru to address the following conflict in practice.

Ref: Section 8.31 of Gen4 Maintenance Manual
Ensure electrical wiring is mounted on the engine mount using insulating spacers (i.e. not mounted directly onto the steel engine mount). In the event of a wire becoming chaffed, contact with the bare engine mount can cause and electrical short circuit.

Every photo of a completed engine install by Jabiru shows the electrical wiring secured to the engine mount by tie-wraps. If there are insulating spacers in those photos, it is not obvious. Please comment.

Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,
My guess is new manual vs old photos; we've not updated the pictures to gel with that practice (which wasn't specified in the older manuals).
We aim to keep the manuals as functionally current as we can - i.e. the images are clear enough to communicate the particular point being illustrated - but the eagle-eyed reader will often see little disconnects like that as it's impractical for us to keep all Figures completely current. Not too many worms in that can, just the usual case of too many jobs, not enough time!

This practice is most important for cables with decent current capacity - starter motor and alternator cables particularly. Also ignition coil wires; depending how they're wired, a short in there could stop that coil sparking.

Regards,
Doug.
