Is there a manual describing the procedure to remove/replace a single cylinder without removing the engine from the airframe?

I have a late solid lifter 2200A that is reading 20/80 on #3 after only 90 hours total time, all of it escaping past the rings. Borescope shows good valves. Blow-by into oil separator is excessive, corroborating piston sealing problem. The engine sat pickled in crate for 7 years and flown for the past 4. It still runs fine.

Hi Dejan,
I don't think there's a procedure for that in the manual, but really it's the same process as a normal overhaul. You remove the head as normal, then undo the cylinder base bolts and slip the cylinder off. If you don't have the parts to re-assemble the engine right away it's best to re-fit the through bolts temporarily to keep the case halves sealed together.
I'm assuming that you will also replace the piston rings (they have probably been damaged), so you'll need a ring compressor to get the new cylinder on. The other thing is to be careful of damaging the seal around the induction pipes - if the seal is damaged ( if the black sealant cracks) around any of the pipes you will have to remove them and re-seal them.
Let me know if you've got any specific questions and I'll pass them on to the engine gurus.
Regards,
Doug.
