Hello Doug,

Recently acquired the 430 and have annual due, (JAN) I can get guys at Maitland to do, and Keith from Cessnock can do the engine. (talked to him) , I wanted to go to Bundaberg to do but its due in first week Jan I just cant get there.

this is the engine Ser #33A 2673, which has only done 37 Hours , and only 11 Hours since the last annual.

are there any specific Service Bulletin I need to be aware of?

Looking at the JSB 12-3 FLywheel washers, is that OK from the new build ? or needs doing? do you have record of what was fitted or comment?

I am assuming JSL 014-4 at these hours is not applicable?

I have downloaded all the Notes and advices.

are there others need to be aware of?

as another question only, does that engine have the Hollow Oil feed rockers?

what about the Double valve spring mod? can do that later ?

we are using it for touring type flying, not training school. Private use only.

the engine is sweet as, very nice, we did the leakdown tests and that's excellent . very low hours, and careful T&P work, it has CHT EGT on all pots.

its been stored properly and fogged as or above requirement and sealed, turned over etc, ,

we did 5 hour x country to Maitland last week and it was excellent, Fuel was good and T&P good, and managed well.

thanks,

Terry.

Hi Terence,
Sounds like you've got a nice little plane there, hope it gives you many hours of fun!
Yours is a new-ish S/No. and a lot of my normal suggestions have already been covered (EGT monitoring, good/frequent maintenance etc) so nothing really springs to mind. By downloading and reading the bulletins you've made a great start, and then handing it to some good Jabiru doctors for its annuals is also a great idea. For there I think just fly the thing and talk over any upgrades that catch your eye with your local maintainers or Jabiru home base. If you're a bit handy I'd also suggest popping the cowl every now and again and giving it a once-over.
The Nordloc washers are basically to be added if you happen to be in there replacing those screws... so if I were looking after your aircraft, unless I found one loosening beforehand, I'd probably wait until the first mandatory replacement of the flywheel screws at 500 hours and fit the new washers then.
JSL014-4 depends on what group your engine falls into - but assuming it's in Group 1 then you don't need to do anything. Otherwise, proceed as per the SB recurrence recommendations.
According to the table in the back of the overhaul manual, your engine has roller followers and the short/hollow pushrods.
Double valve springs came in at 2738 so you won't have those. Again, that's one that is unlikely to cause you any dramas with the sort of flying you're doing so no hurry.
Clear skies and happy landings 🙂
Doug.
