I have had my Jabiru 230c since new in 2006 and I am really happy with it. It has always been hangared yet my factory paint finish has devloped blisters, these appear worse in areas where I imagine fairing compound has been used such as around windows, wing tips, etc. It looks like the fairing compound is outgassing. Other composite aircraft paint finishes at the Innisfail airport are not showing this behaviour. I have been told that the original paint will have to be sanded off (strippers will not work) to get it repainted. At this stage while looking a bit scruffy; mainly very small blisters, on close inspection a repaint is still some way away.
I am aware that the aircraft is stored in the very high humidity environment of Innisfail FNQ. The local lab where I work looks at the durabilty of various composite materials to weathering so I am not really surprised by the behavious of the paint on my Jabiru.
Given the age of my Jabiru and where it is stored, this is not a complaint, but I am asking what my options are should I want to repair the pant finish in the furture.
