I am attempting to test fit my rudder pedals and am seeing some differences between the build manual and my actual parts.

It appears from the build manual that holes should be pre drilled for the steering push rods. I see one hole but not the second. I have attached two photos of my pedal assemblies. If it is intended for me to drill this second hole, please provide me with the details for the location.

It also appears from the build manual that stops should be pre installed into the rudder pedal assemblies that prevent the assemblies from sliding latterly within the bearings blocks. My pedal assemblies don't appear to have these installed but I do see part number 3014094 which appear to be provided for that purpose. Please provide me with some details for locating and installing the stops.

How much travel should I see in the nose gear?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Wayne,
There should definitely be holes in both pedals for the pushrods. The missing hole needs to go in the same position as the hole which is there, on the other pedal assembly.

The lateral stops are fitted on assembly, so you'll need to do a fit of the whole assembly, decide where you want everything to go and then drill the pedal cross tubes to suit and rivet the stops on. You'll see that the pedal travel stops built into one pedal assembly have a matching striker plate on the other assembly - obviously these need to line up so there's not really much adjustment there. It will be a matter of fitting the assembly, lining the travel stops up with the striker plate, getting the whole assembly symmetric in the aircraft and then putting the lateral stops in. It's just about the last step when we fit the pedal assemblies here and doesn't take long.

Travel-wise, I think from memory the pushrods move about 40 - 50mm (1.6 - 2.0"). It does depend a little on exactly which version of the assembly you have there.

Best Regards,
Doug.

Can you send me a mechanical drawing of the rudder pedals? I want to be sure I get all the holes drilled in to the proper locations.
